Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are a smooth injectable gel made from a natural complex sugar called Hyaluronic Acid. This is injected below the skin’s surface to ‘fill-in’ wrinkles, ‘plump-up’ small areas such as lips, and ‘re-volumise’ large areas like cheeks.

It is used to fill in facial medium-sized depressions of the skin as well as lip definition and pouting of lips. Results can last from 6 months up to 24 months.

FAQS

  • 1 // WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are gels with a hyaluronic acid base (like a sugar gel), which can be injected into certain areas of your face to either correct wrinkles, fill in deep scars or non-surgically change the shape of certain parts of your face. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body, and over time the dermal filler breaks down via normal body processes.

  • 2 // WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

The benefits of using dermal fillers include:

    • Fillers can reliably treat wrinkles at depths that other methods cannot
    • They are biocompatible and rarely cause reactions
    • The fillers can be dissolved by injection if there are any problems
    • They are non-invasive compared to surgical solutions
  • 3 // WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Ordinary side effects following dermal filler injections include swelling, redness, bruising and mild asymmetry as the inflammation settles down.

  • 4 // HOW MANY DERMAL FILLER TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

You will need follow up treatments every 6-24 months depending on products chosen and individualised treatment requirements.

  • 5 // IS IT PAINFUL?

Local anaesthesia can be used if necessary, although it isn’t needed for all patients. Without local anaesthesia, we would rate the pain of dermal filler injections at around 2.5/10. With local anaesthesia, we would rate the pain of dermal filler injections at around 0.5/10
